Paris Fashion Week is one of the most important dates for fashionistas around the globe. Some of the world’s best dressed will descend into Europe’s fashion capital to bring new designs and style inspiration for the seasons to come. Huge names such as Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney and Chanel will be lining the catwalks with their statement pieces to showcase for audiences throughout the French capital.

If you’re lucky enough to be able to attend some of the shows, you’ll be in full fashion-force throughout the week. So what better way to spend your down-time than heading to the Parisian outskirts to pick up some of your own wardrobe essentials?

Best Shopping Spots Around Paris

We’ve picked out a selection of Paris’ best suburban shopping secrets for you to head to on a day off. They’re all around 15 minutes’ drive from the center of Paris – and your plethora of new clothes and accessories – on a shopping spree. Public transport won’t be kind once you’ve stocked up on your summer holiday attire…

1. Faubourg Saint-Honoré

This district, which is about 10 minutes’ drive from the city center, is the cream of the crop for designer wear. The price tags are as hefty as the fur coats they stock though, so don’t come here looking for a bargain. Instead, park up and wander around Yves Saint Laurent or Versace for staple items that will never go out of style.

2. Ding Fring

If the stores in Faubourg Saint-Honoré left you cold, head to this brilliant vintage shop in the north-eastern suburbs, around 15 minutes from the center of Paris. It sells great quality second-hand designer gear for a fraction of the original price. It’s a great place to browse the rails for hours, and you’ll no doubt come across a quirky find that you’ll keep for years to come.

3. Les Puces de Montreuil

This flea market is again about a quarter of an hour outside Paris, on 340 Rue des Pyrénées. This one’s not so much about the clothing styles you can pick up, but there are a few vintage gems to be had. You’ll find an array of antiques to not only accessorize your outfits, but also your home. From light fittings, cushions and cutlery to bracelets and earrings this place is a haven for those who love digging – and haggling – for a unique bargain.

4. Place Vendrom

Make sure you leave enough space in the car for a few pieces from one of France’s most renowned boutique jewelery quarters, Place Venrom. It’s a 17th century square located about 5 minutes’ drive from the center, near the Opera. Ensure you’ve got room enough on your credit card to pick up some of the finest cut diamonds you’ll ever see – with names like Bulgari and DeBeers clustered together, you’re sure to find one gleaming accessory which catches your eye.

After this road trip, you’ve probably found some new outfits to rival those adorning the catwalks – so load up your car and drive home in style; ooh la la!
