This season’s lace up sandals are reinventing traditional gladiators and making them more wearable and packable, too – we are loving these new looks! From comfort to heels to flats, check out our favorite styles.
Lace Up Sandals and Gladiators
Flats are footwear staples; we love them because of their easy-going style and the ability to dress up an outfit without feeling over-the-top. This season, there seems to be an endless array of lace up sandals to choose from so we’ve singled out a few of our top picks.
These will act as your third “dressy” travel shoe but shouldn’t be the main pair you pack for walking and day-long sightseeing.

This lace up number is all haute couture flavor. It’s a scene stealer! It’s a great dressy, flat option and I was so tempted to buy it when I tried it on a Nordstrom recently. However, I wasn’t ready for the splurge so I opted for the Sarto Pierson lace up, instead!
Another beautiful PAIR, this lacey flat is made of suede braids and knots, interwoven to enhance the look of your sexy feet. We like the padded, soft insole for walking comfort. Pair this with a loose chiffon dress or cotton summer shorts!
Steve Madden’s always been my go-to brand for easily accessible, affordable footwear with on-trend footwear options. Despite the price tag, they last for years. Cuffed and braided, the intricately designed straps are reminiscent of old-world, leather, woven sandals. Take this on a Mediterranean jaunt and show off your beautiful feet.
This imposing, whiskey-colored sandal is made from real leather. The caged style flatters the fierce and fashionable. The neutral hue, along with the shoe’s unique design, likely makes it a perfect match for all the items in your travel wardrobe.
When your feet start to complain, it’s time to switch to comfort shoes. However, this doesn’t mean you have to be out of style. New comfort lace up sandals have taken over fashion, making hours of walking less painful while staying chic.
Among our top finds is this half-looped, caged sandal in sassy black. Your feet will be cushioned in deerskin lining and a flaxseed, midsole padding and while maintaining a feminine design, not usual for comfort shoes. We call it style without the sting.
The tan leather of this stack-heel, gladiator comfort shoe is one of my favorite neutral colors for shoes. You get a contoured foot-bed doubled with arch support, so every step you take is a more pleasant – even with a small heel.
In a bright, olive tone, this lace up comfort shoe offers a bohemian appeal. No need to get tangled in wraps: there’s a back-zip closure that makes wearing easy – especially if you’re wearing these to get through airport security. The leather upper and lining ensures that your feet will remain nice and snug in every use.
Gone are the days when cork footwear was considered austere and masculine. This black, woven sandal offers comfort and appeal with its caged, construction. It’s the comfort footbed we’ve all gotten used to seeing but with a more dainty gladiator look.
For those of you still wearing heels, take your game up a notch: jump on the lace up plus clock heel bandwagon. We’ve listed a few heeled sandals with a haute couture flavor, all of them with styles and colors to fit the girl on the go. The three block heels shown also make a good replacement for wedges on some trips.
I’m currently crazy over my Loeffler Randall Hana heels that I’ve been wearing in all my heel pics. Plus, they’re in olive – the neutral of the moment – and they match with everything!
Forget those boring nude heels, this snakeskin-design is your best choice for formal nights out. The mochaccino color visually exudes a creamy cup of coffee. Use this to complement your little black dress for that special event.
VINCE CAMUTO ( BOOTS LIKE SANDALS )
Boots? Nope. This gladiator-inspired stack-heel number is for the playful traveler who wants something in between. The suede upper showcases geometric cut-outs for added flair. These are perfect with boyfriend jeans and loose collared shirts–a nice airport style!
These are the ones I’m crazy about and have been wearing with everything! This olive-toned, matte-textured sandal demurely brings to mind gladiators. The metallic hardware adds a nice touch. It’s a nice pair to pack when heading to a high-end resort or nice evenings out.
Go ultra-feminine with this blush-colored, peep-toe sandal. Add a little flair with a bright nail color. The three-and-a-half-inch heel is a slightly more comfortable alternative to a painful stiletto, and the color offers maximum versatility.
Who says prints and lace up sandals don’t go well together? When it comes to fashionable footwear, nothing is too much! I absolutely adore printed shoes, especially because my wardrobe consists mainly of solids.
Featuring a man-made sole and a laced-up closure, this sandal’s leather upper in snakeskin is too gorgeous to pass up. The timeless serpentine look appeals to every generation in every season. Make a statement: pair this with your day dress for an extra-sophisticated look. This is my favorite neutral print!
The strong zebra prints paired with the yellow lace up just screams for attention. This sandal looks so cute! Break away from your solid-toned ensemble with this young and vibrant piece. Another awesome and fun neutral for summer!
This black and white number may look too demure at first glance, but wait until you match it with your other looks. The washed, textured upper erases any monotony. And check out that tasseled lace! The back zip closure helps you easily slip in and out of this sandal without any hassle. For those afraid to wear white shoes to travel, this might be the ideal compromise.
Speaking of tassels, this next pair of sandals has loads of ’em! Made with a snake-embossed leather upper, fringes flutter above your feet, giving you that chic-boho look with just a dash of turquoise. It flatters loose, lightweight fabrics packed for your beach holiday.
