Top 5 Men’s Toiletries for Travel

As much as we guys like to pretend we are just naturally good looking, fact of the matter is that most of us actually do spend some time in front of the mirror. You think James Bond steps out of bed that suave? Of course he doesn’t! So if you don’t want look like a hobo, you are going to have to man up and do some grooming.

While traveling, getting hold of your favorite travel toiletries might be a hassle. The basics should be available everywhere: toothpaste, soap and shampoo are staple products around the world. So are general local brands.

However, if you have some favorites you’d rather not live without, I’ve listed men’s toiletries you should think about getting before setting out.

Men’s Face Wash

Nothing upsets your skin like having to acclimatize to a new area. More sun, more sweat, dusty roads and greasy sunscreen will quickly make your face feel horrible. Using a good men’s face wash every morning and evening will feel great and your skin will look significantly better.

Be careful when buying your favorite brand abroad though! Especially Asia loves to sell products that look exactly the same as they do at home. Even the best face washes for men actually add a skin whitener.

Face Moisturizer for Men

To protect your face from harmful sunrays and dry air – try using a face moisturizer for men. It helps to keep your skin supple and makes sure it won’t dry out.

A daily mens moisturizer will make sure your skin stays in its best condition despite extreme change in climate. It’s also beneficial if your face wash leaves your skin feeling a bit dry. Although not a replacement for proper sunscreen, using a face moisturizer can greatly improve your skin.

And while you’re at it, don’t forget your beard! We suggest Suave Grooming; they have the best beard oil.

Moisturizing Lip Balm

Nobody likes kissing chapped lips! Your lips need special attention, as they are much more sensitive than the rest of your face. Lip balm is a must for any trip. The dry air and exposure to the cold or extreme heat will make your lips crack and bleed before you have even arrived on your destination.

Getting a good lip balm will help prevent chapped lips. Choose a flavorless balm that doesn’t show.

Travel Size Shaving Cream

More and more travelers take their electric travel shavers abroad, but there are still those among us that prefer shaving with a regular blade razor. You don’t have to worry about charging your blade razor and they weigh significantly less.

Although shaving cream is readily available in most areas of the world, the trouble is finding a travel sized bottle. Most of the bigger brands have smaller canisters available; think about bringing one from home. The travel size can last several months.

If you don’t clean shave every day you don’t have to worry about replacing it too often. Look for shaving cream that moisturizes for extra protection.

Men’s Hair Products

Although your preferred hair product for men is mainly personal, there are a couple of things you will need to consider. Anything that washes out after the first drop of rain or a bit of sweat should be left at home.

You should also give priority to a hair product you only need a little of to get your hair to look like you want. You want your product to last. Nothing adds weight to your pack and your head like half a liter of gel.

We recommend getting matt clay. It comes in various strengths for different hairstyles, will survive a bit of rain or sweat, and comes in travel sized containers.
