My Summer and Winter Travel Essentials

by Bekka Grites

My Summer Travel Essentials:

COOL AS A CUCUMBER: I love this striped, vintage jumper for and all warm-weather ocassions. I’ts perfect for a suny day , made of breathable, lightweight cotton.

TRUSTY SHADES: Never go anywhere that’s “fun in the sund” without a solid pair of shedes. Ilove my Cynthia Rowley’s because the lense gradiant stands tough against even the brightest of afternoons, and the orange pop of color is perfect with most summer attire.

PEDI-READY SANDALS: These Anna Sui’s are the most comfortable sandals I’ve ever worn. The leather is buttery soft  and provides a surprising amount of support – perfect for a summer stroll.

A GIANT BAG: Whenever I’m traveling, ican’t live without a bag that would rival Mary Poppins’. This Beach Tote works so well because it’s roomy inside and has a rim of outer pockets, great for throwing in last minute items like on-the-go treats.

LIGHT ON ACCESSORIES: When visiting hotter climates, I never want to be weighed down by bulky accessories. With this look, I’ve chosen a tried-and-true vintage belt that offers a ton of color and adds some needed dimension to my jumper.

My Winter Travel Essentials:

A BERET: People who can’t wear hats, wear berets – they look great on everyone! It’s a wintery essential in my book, and helps with bad hair days, to boot.

A STATEMENT COAT: When you’re visiting a cooler climate, there’s no reason to dress up your under-coat, because all eyes will be on your overcoat – so make it count! Statement coats are some of my favorite pieces, even in warm weather, and this vintage, Italian, wool coat was an ideal find for winter travel.

TEXTURED PANTS: I find that textured pants add almost a second layer of material to any pant, making them great counterparts in crime for winter travel. These floral DVF’s always keep my legs warm while still looking cool.

WARM AND FUZZY BOOTS: Fur-lined boots or booties make a world of difference when it comes to staying warm in winter. I’m also a fan of wool socks, but if you have to choose, go with fur-lined boots.

WIDE-KNIT SCARF: This scarf not only adds attitude and color tomy look, but also a great deal of warmth. Wide-knit scarves that can be wrapped around your neck and shoulders several times add drama to any outfit, but it’s also a sensible fashion.
