UNIQLO: Month Long Travel
If you are fortunate enough to be heading off on a month long backpacking adventure this season, here at TFG we’ve created the ultimate 15-piece packing list with items from UNIQLO to help you on your way.
Adaptable for different climates, it features pioneering fabrics from the UNIQLO Ultra Light Down collection, a range which boasts 90% down and 10% feathers to provide maximum insulation with minimum weight – perfect for back-packers!
If Ultra Light Down is an essential part of your travel wardrobe, you could stand the chance to win £300 to spend at UNIQLO by entering their current social styling competition. Simply upload an image or video of yourself wearing any piece from past or current Ultra Light Down collections on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #ULD. The best images will then be showcased on UNIQLO social channels and one winner will be picked for the UK and one for France.
The competition will run for two weeks, from October 7th – October 20th, so don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity! Check out the website for full details: UNIQLO #ULD Contest Page.
Basic tanks and tees in neutral colours will serve as a great base for your travel wardrobe and can be easily mixed and matched as they’re versatile and comfortable.
For layering items that pack away easily, look for long sleeve tops which are also particularly suitable for more conservative cultures. HeatTech turtle neck tops will keep you warm without adding unnecessary bulk.
Trousers and jeans
If you live in jeans normally then they may make their way into your backpack, but remember that they will take a long time to air dry and may not be the most comfortable option for sitting on a hot bus or train for hours on end.
Leggings represent a more comfortable option and can be worn under dresses and skirts or simply with T-shirts or tops. If you want something a little more on-trend, choose from UNIQLO’s patterned pairs or faux leather leggings.
Whatever the occasion a pair of shorts is a must! A good pair of shorts will become the staple part of your travel wardrobe and will leave you feeling cool and comfortable in hotter climes.
There’s no better feeling than slipping into an easy lightweight sun dress for a day out and UNIQLO’s super-comfy Easy Dress, is just as the name suggests. For night-time dressing, a simple sleeveless lace dress is feminine yet non-fussy.
The HeatTech lounge cardigan provides a more casual and easy-to-pack alternative to a regular jacket. But if you’re looking for something that will keep you toasty on treks, it’s got to be an Ultra Light Down coat, which ticks all the boxes of comfort, warmth, weight, durability, function and style.
While a backpacking holiday is a casual affair, it’s always worth packing one smarter shirt among your tees and polo shirts for those occasions when you hit the town with the new friends you’ll meet along the way. And for extra warmth, turtle necks and hoodies are always a sensible choice.
Trousers and jeans
Every travel wardrobe needs a good pair of shorts for the warmer days and colour pop chino shorts can help add interest to your casual holiday outfits. Denim shorts are another classic style that is durable and can be worn over and over again without losing its shape or needing a wash.
While they will take a while to air dry, the good thing about jeans is that they don’t need washing too regularly. Pack whichever styles you feel most comfortable in – straight leg or skinny.
Fleece is a classic and durable material and the UNIQLO fleece jacket features a soft middle layer that traps warm air inside – smart isn’t it?
You need a jacket that will provide you with warmth and protect you from all the elements and this UNIQLO UltraLight Down parka does just that. Choose a two-tone piece for cool urban edge.
A scarf is always a wonderful accessory to have during your travels, not only can it add some much needed color to an otherwise neutral wardrobe, but this UNIQLO Heattech Knit scarf that we have chosen is perfect for adding warmth and style to any outfit.
