Berlin is a beautiful place, especially in the summer when the weather is warm and pleasant; the city is rich in heritage, from its cutting edge architecture and historical memorials to its amazing nightlife and diverse music scenes.

Summer is the height of Berlin’s festival season, making it the perfect time for art, music and food lovers to explore the city.

The fashion in Berlin varies by neighborhoods, from Kreuzberg to Charlottenburg; each district has its own favored style, but generally, anything goes and you’ll pretty much see every style as you walk the streets, especially in the central Mitte area.

If want to blend in in East Berlin in summer, pack a pair of cropped skinny jeans, plenty of neutral tanks and t’s and your favorite wayfarer style sunglasses, in contrast.

West Berlin is more conservative, pack preppy blouses, lightweight printed dresses, a pair of cropped capris and a range of t’s in summer colors and prints, include a pastel pull over sweater for chilly nights.

Carry a jacket and small compact umbrella for sudden changes in weather, choose a lightweight design that can easily be stored away in your bag yet had the ability to protect yourself against an unexpected summer shower.

Locals in Berlin love vintage fashion and are experts at mixing the old with the new, you’ll find an abundance of antique and vintage stores dotted around the city, especially in Mitte and Friedrichshain, leave some room in your luggage for a vintage bargain.
