The best travel makeup is the one that you can use for everything. Multi-purpose items are just as important with your on the road beauty routine as they are with your travel clothing choices.
Tropical heat, diving, trekking, and most other backpacker activities wipe out any attempted beauty efforts. Less is definitely more when it comes to travel make up.
Beauty Must Have: Multiple Make-Up Stick
The perfect solution to beauty product overload lies with the Multiple Stick. These creamy bars act as blush, eye shadow, and lipstick all in one – super low maintenance with great results.
Multiple Sticks provide a light, velvety tint resulting in a natural glow. As an added bonus, your make-up won’t streak in the heat like with powdered cosmetics.
Travel Fashion Girl Recommends
The best travel makeup for me is the Nars Multiple stick. It gives you a radiant glow that looks natural and makes your skin look flawless in your travel pictures. The South Beach shade complements a wide range of skin tones and blends well with or without a tan and the Orgasm shade is a must have for many fashionistas.
You’ll be hooked on this product on the road and at home. Dab a bit on your fingers, smooth over the apples of your cheeks, and you’re good to go!
If you only pack one make up item, make it a multi-purpose stick.
For more details, check out the NARS Multiple on Amazon or Sephora.

Wasnt a big fan of the NARS stick but i love the Boots No7 Shade and Define pencil. I take a min of 2 of these on hols and they work brilliantly….plus they have a builtin sharpener on the end. These plus a BB cream tinted lashes clear mascara and lip tint and thats my makeup done!!
Thank you for sharing your go-to makeup stick with us Carrie. We always love hearing about our readers favorite products 🙂
I have always been in need of some make up tips and I just can’t wait to try these out! I hope I look as beautiful as the ladies shown! ?
Thanks Louise! Happy to help! I’m sure you’re beautiful just the way you are 😉
Palettes are the best. I just bought one by Tarte that has bronzer, blush, highlighter and eyeshadows for every occasion. I love the Nars mutliple but cream doesn’t work for me when I’m in a humid and hot environment. Powder works better for me and lasts longer in most occasions.
I never had luck with the Lush soap. Always would be wet in the hostel shower and then disintegrate too fast.
haha I’m the opposite – don’t like powders in the humidity because I end up a streaky sweaty mess 🙂
When going on short trips, I will use a clean contact lens case with screw on lids. One side holds liquid foundation; the other creme blush. Case holds several days’ supply in a totally minimum space.
awesome tip thanks!
Hey! Great post. I am a minimalist (and an avid traveler!) I stick with the very basics and I actually bought Guerlain Parure de Lumière Foundation for my next trip to Chile. It is very lightweight and conforms to your skin! I finish it off with some Guerlain bronzer and a small Clinique mascara (hypo-allergenic!)
I have some other great travel ideas on my site! undertheyewtree.com
Hi Yvonne. Three makeup items? Sounds like you are a true minimalista 🙂
Thanks for the tips!
These are great! I’m actually right in the middle of packing for my RTW trip and I have a ton of tips like this too. I’m obsessed with the Lush shampoo/condition/body bars. Not sure if you have seen those. It cuts WAY back on time in the shower which helps at hostels. I’ve had to be super selective with my make up too. Great post. Keep them coming!
Hi Trish! Thanks for the Lush Bar tips. It seems like every girl loves dry shampoo and lush bars! i’ll have to try them when I can. without access to western products i’m stuck with good old shampoo and baby powder 😉
