If you plan to embrace the colorful hippy style and want to blend in with the boho crowd check out El Rastro, Madrid’s largest and oldest Sunday street market, or head for La Latina where the streets are filled with people chilling, chatting, drinking beers and generally having a good time.
Dress code in Madrid is largely influenced by the weather, the summer can get very hot, opt for lightweight and breathable clothes to ensure you remain comfortable in the heat, pack an assortment of tanks, camis and t’s in a variety of summer hues and prints.
Colorful summer dresses (pack a dressier dress if you plan on experiencing Madrid’s nightlife), a pair of cropped capris, flowing culottes and a feminine skirt. Make sure to pack a lightweight jacket and pretty pastel embellished sweater in case the weather at night drops chilly.

When visiting Madrid in summer pack a pair of chic sunglasses and a fedora style hat to protect yourself from the sun’s strong glare.
It’s also a great idea to pack a lightweight printed shawl or scarf in case you plan on visiting any cathedrals or places of worship, it’s also a great piece for adding a pop of summer color to an outfit.
Pack a pair of comfortable leather sandals for exploring the city, flip flips should be kept strictly for the beach or in the house, leave room in your luggage and treat yourself to a pair of leather shoes, the Spanish make such beautiful and high quality pairs.
Use slim packing cubes to save space in your suitcase and travel carry-on only.
