In 2013, there was only one thing ruling my travel itinerary: scuba diving. To feed my underwater addiction I was and currently still am on a quest to dive in all the top sites in the world starting with Dahab, Egypt.
My first visit to this part of the world was in 2008 with G Adventures and my Egypt and Jordan tour included a few nights in the Red Sea – I’d never seen water that blue! I was so happy I got the chance to spend 3 full weeks in Dahab years later.
Dahab is about an hour or two north of Sharm el-Sheikh on Egypt’s Red Sea coast. It is a prime budget traveler, backpacker, and scuba diver destination. Dives start at 20 euros, decent rooms are as low as $10 per night, and a yummy local meal can cost a few dollars.
This was heaven.
While I’d traveled to Egypt previously in 2008 I’d never gone scuba diving here and boy was I in for a treat! Follow along my journey as I take you on my 3 week trip through Dahab! Read these posts to learn more about Dahab and also about my top recommendations.
Walking along Dahab’s coast. What a view!
Wearing a maxi skirt as a dress (similar options here and here) and Havaiana Thong Flip Flops for sea side style plus a circle scarf to cover my shoulders as needed.
Struggled not to get in a shopping frenzy. It’s a fashionista shopaholic paradise!
Never leave home without my fedora sun hat, aviators, and denim shorts (similar here and here)! Must haves in my long term travel packing list. I was also wearing silver Birkenstock Gizehs for comfort. Read my Birkenstock Gizeh Review.
My favorite place to get an afternoon drink and catch up on some wifi to update TFG.
Love this pic of the kids playing and jumping of the boat.
Love this yummy “Falafel Monster Pita”.
The world’s deadliest scuba diving site: the Blue Hole.
Beautiful colorful reef lines the ENTIRE coast – so in love!
Let’s go diving!
Relaxing on the boat after diving the famous Thistlegorm Wreck. AMAZING. Love this reversible Becca swimsuit too.
Even if you don’t dive the colors are magical and the visibility is amazing if you like snorkeling. I do!
