Travel underwear was a huge discussion last week! The debate between packing three undies plagues travelers just as the old travel question about packing jeans.
Travel Underwear: Pinterest Pics of the Week
After two weeks of travel underwear feedback, the majority of you Travel Fashion Girls agree on an ideal packing quantity for travel undies: 5 is a good minimum and 10 is a good maximum. The Pinterest Travel Fashion Girl of the week Bethany from Flashpacker Family explains it perfectly:
“It’s always exciting to find a secret stash of clean undies.
I pack around 10 pairs of low rise briefs. Always cotton. The best ones come in five-packs fromMarks & Spencer in the UK. In fact, I’ve just ordered three more five packs online and had them sent to my friend in London.”
Poor Erica from OverYonderlust got stuck in rainy season with “quick dry” underwear that never dried and is now upping her underwear quantity from 3 to 10. Makes sense. After all, does womens underwear really take up that much space?
Thanks for sharing your feedback and shopping tips Bethany!

I agree – bring some old undies with you (along with the nicer ones you’re going to keep on using.) I wear the old undies on the first few days and then just toss them out. From a practical point of view, it’s nice not to worry about laundry on your first few days as you’re getting oriented. And your pack will gain a tiny bit of extra space for each pair of undies you ditch. (yes, it’s a teeny bit of extra space, but something’s better than nothing – maybe buy some new undies to replace them. Paris, perhaps?)
The last thing you want to worry about on your first few days of travel is laundry. Great point! I’ve found some great replacements while traveling and they’re usually about $1 – even underwear with pockets! Although, those weren’t from Paris but for sure a great place to find some lacy souvenirs 🙂
I always have a quick wash and change in the airport when on a long haul flight. You feel so much better, even if the hair is not looking that great. Take your really, really old knickers and you can leave them at the airport and you don’t need to carry them around with you.
That’s a great idea! Take very comfortable and old undies and ditch them. Gives a new meaning to the term to disposable underwear 🙂
Thanks for reading and your tip!
Oooh… I love the idea of a little underwear bag!
Any travelling girl knows there’s nothing like a shower and a fresh pair of knickers after a long flight or bus ride. 🙂
small pleasures in life 😉
