Chances are you have a pair of flip flops in your closet, but they’re not just supportive enough when you’re on the go. We’ve rounded up a list of the best travel flip flops offering support and comfort on your next beachside vacation!
Best Supportive Flip Flops for Women
Table Of Contents
Regardless of your style, you probably have at least one pair of flip flops in your closet somewhere. Flip flops, also known as jandals, sandals and thongs in some parts of the world, are some of the most practical and easy to wear footwear choices for beach destinations. However, not all travelers can wear regular styles due to their lack of support.
It’s not easy to find comfortable flip flops that are also supportive. But when it’s hot and you’re hanging out by a pool or near the sea, these types of sandals are sometimes the easiest and most breathable shoe options. In fact, in places such as Southeast Asia, this is the type of shoe worn by both locals and tourists alike.

Most Comfortable Crocs for the Beach
You might be surprised to see that a brand like Crocs has shoes that…well, don’t look like “Crocs”. The above style has been around for some time but it continues to be one of the most comfy flip flops for walking.
My one gripe with Crocs is that they don’t offer half sizes so it’s a bit more challenging to get the right fit. However, with 5-star Croc flip flops reviews in the thousands, it seems that most women don’t have this issue. Buy it here!
Take a look at the other Crocs female travelers love – I guarantee you’ll be surprised (in a good way)!

Why Are Flip Flops Practical for Some Trips?
They’re also a practical addition for long term travel, backpacking, and RTW trips. This is because these types of adventurers also tend to be budget travelers that stay in economic accommodation such as hostels and guesthouses. A pair of practical and waterproof flipflops to wear in the shower might protect you from picking up foot fungus or other infections.
As a bonus, comfortable flip flops womens brands are now creating cuter styles than the standard rubber type you’re probably used to. A versatile choice, they’re easy to wear with regular outfits in addition to a bathing suit.
What’s the Best Way to Pack My Flip Flops?
Our readers use anything from shoe bags to packing cubes to pack their sandals. You can usually get about two pairs in each bag maximizing space and the quantity of organizers you need to buy.
The most recommended option is to use packing cubes because if you’re reading this blog you probably already own a set. If you don’t, Compass Rose Packing Cubes are the perfect size option to pack your sandals!

Great suggestions!
I decided it was finally time to invest in a good pair of flip flops if I wanted to keep wearing them. Went with Olu Kai and I’m very happy with my decision!!
Super helpful
I love the Reef Cushion Breeze Sandal–I swear by them!
I live at the beach. I’ve tried most of the shoes in this post, and returned all of them except the Teva Olowahu flip flops. They are my favorite flip floor and I wore them as my primary shoes when I lived in Bali. I love them for travel. They are secure, ultralight, pack flat and they are cute!
The two-strap design holds my feet securely, even when the soles are wet. They do become dusty in sand, but the soft materials prevent sore spots from the sand, and they don’t collect small stones. I can wear them to launch the boat, driving when they are wet, climbing steep stairs and hills, etc. They can even handle the incredible down-pouring rain in SE Asia. They dry quickly, so they can be scrubbed in the shower, wiped down and worn to dinner.
I have the Sanuk Comfort Flip Flops with Yoga Mat Footbed. They are really comfortable.
My favorite flip flop has an arch support, a comfortable sole, thin straps, and can be worn for hours of walking and standing. Look at their flip flops here. https://freeworldaustralia.com/collections/all?page=1
I only wear Clark flipflops. High quality construction and comfortable bed. Velcro width adjustment very handy!
Thanks for sharing your recommendation with us Elizabeth!!!
Give the ABEO Balboa flip flop a try…they are THE most comfy..esp if you have plantar fasciitis or other arch issues. I have 8 pairs of them!! Perfect for Florida (any place, any time, any outfit!).
`Hi Laurie, thank you for sharing your recommendation with us! ?
After seeing a post last year you made I got the exact style ipanemas above shown but in the nude / leather sort of colour. I’d never heard of them before, only the other Brazilian flip flip brand but in my opinion these seem far better quality and more stylish. The colour I got is great as they literally go with anything from jeans to nice dresses, and they don’t look like flip flops on first glance. On a hen do earlier in the year I had them on and one of the girls was surprised I wasn’t worried about getting them wet until I showed her the matieral! She thought they were leather! I love them & they have been invaluable to my current trip & a few days ago made a huge difference to me when having to swim / walk and climb up the rope ladder for the rear entrance to Maya Bay! They weren’t my Tevas but they certainly made a difference as everyone else with standard open flip flops had to go barefoot which judging from their winces etc wasn’t pleasant on the rocks. Also as the design is so simple, but yet so elegant with that little metal detail they are great for evenings out dressing up with a nice black dress. Perfect!
Spenco flip flops are extremely comfortable with arch and metatarsal support, and not as stiff as Vionics.
Archies are super comfortable arch support flip flops
https://archiesfootwear.com/
I swear by all of my Vionic flip flops and sandals! I even bring a pair for cold weather travel to use in place of slippers. I hate to walk around barefooted and my Vionics are supportive and keep my feet off of dirty floors. If you need arch support, they are the way to go.
I LOVE my Archie’s!
I’m surprised they aren’t on this list
