Kalkan is a breathtaking landscape which offers a view of Turkish resorts including extravagant hotels and intimate villas. This is the home to many grand hotels in the country, which offer private suits, rooftop rooms, courtyard of gardens and a private pool.

Kas is a favorite spot for scuba divers, but it can also be enjoyed for its picturesque scenery and relaxed atmosphere. The Villa Hotel Tamara offers luxury accommodation with coastal views, great suites and warm service.

Going to Turkey implies a good visit to Istanbul, the country’s multi-cultural capital city. Naturally, Istanbul is a place to find luxury hotels such as the famous Ciragan Palace Kempinski. This palatial building has been a home for the Ottoman Sultans. Standing alongside it is the Bosphorus, a hotel offering luxury spa, extended pools, private gardens, and among the finest restaurants offered in the city.

Kaya Valley is a short distance from the coast, offering a more tranquil and exclusive atmosphere – a great spot for a relaxing getaway. Cappadocia is for the more adventurous traveler, offering various activities such as horse riding to hot air ballooning. The majestic caves are Turkey’s natural wonders, where luxurious facilities are built into the slopes of a hill. The Cappadocia Cave Resort and Spa is an intimate way of relaxing within this earthen landscape.

Luxury Shopping and Leisure

The Grand Bazaar is the way to top off any luxury shopping spree in Turkey. This vibrant and flourishing district offers 4,000 shops in its 60 covered streets. One can spend a whole day discovering treasures and souvenirs, along with beautiful pottery, lovely jewelry, carpet shops and fragrant spices. However, there are also malls in Turkey which sells world-known retail brands such as Topshop, Mango and Guess.

Sports fans will definitely want to have a glimpse of the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul. This is the largest capacity stadium in the whole country, and has been the home to the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final. The Ataturk Olympic Stadium is also the spot to witness great live music performances.

Cruising around Turkey is a lavish experience, and there is no better way to enjoy it than a gullet cruise. Travelers can behold the most exclusive islands, visit exotic cosmopolitan resorts and shop in the loveliest malls in the country as a part of the trip’s itinerary. The traditional gullet ship is considered more luxurious than a yacht travel, and lasts from one to two weeks.

What to Wear in Turkey

Turkey overall has a diverse attitude on clothing. In Istanbul, you can see a lot of female tourists wearing shorts, small tops and skirts. While it is okay to wear short clothing within well-known tourist areas and beaches, it’s best to er on the side of caution because you don’t know the areas well enough to know when certain clothing is acceptable.

There are liberal and conservative areas in the country and wearing short clothing will definitely attract unwanted attention and comments. This is true in Central Anatolia, where the older generation in particular, finds skimpy clothing offensive. In areas as such, women should wear light cotton tops or dresses, and bottoms that fall below the knee. Baggy cotton pants and short sleeves are alright, but sleeveless tops will draw stares.

When visiting the mosques, a head covering is advised; scarves are often used for this purpose. There are many of these items being sold cheaply in the streets and bazaar. Light scarves are also functional for evenings whenever it gets chilly.

For footwear, comfortable walking shoes are a must for those who are visiting the ancient sites. Sidewalks are often uneven, and one can expect broken roads with holes. Another set of footwear for the beach is a must. Shoes are required to be left outside when entering special districts such as Mosques.

Things to Remember

The best months to visit the country are from May to October. The season from July to August can be hot, and it is essential to pack on sunscreen, as it is quite expensive in Turkey. When visiting in winter, pack on warmer clothes especially when visiting the central eastern areas. Clothes in Turkey are both fashionable and inexpensive – pack light!
