Stila Stay All Day Foundation Kit
The Foundation and Concealer in One
My favorite base product to take on short journeys is a long wearing, good coverage foundation, with the added bonus of a matching concealer and a handy mirror built into the lid. My top picks are Stila’s Stay All Day Foundation, Concealer and Brush Kit, and the Modelco Fluid Splash 3 in 1 Foundation.
You could wrap your makeup bag in clothing and add to your packing cube in your suitcase for added protection when traveling.
CoverGirl Perfect Blend Pencil
The Multipurpose Brown Eyeliner
This is the ‘don’t leave home without it’ makeup item. Not only does it perform its usual eye-lining duties, but if the product formula is on the waxy side, the colour can also be blended out to create a smokey eye. It can even perform triple duty as a stand-in brow pencil. Covergirl’s Perfect Blend Pencil ticks all the boxes.
The Combined Makeup Remover, Cleanser and Toner
No need to take up space in your bag with your bulky cleanser and toner, the Arcona Triad facial pads will stand in as an effective and gentle alternative. They effectively remove makeup while clarifying and nourishing your skin.
Bumble and bumble Wavy Travel Set
The Travel-Size Conditioner
If you’re not keen on using the hotel shampoo and conditioner but are strapped for cabin-bag space, many brands now offer travel-size hair products, the conditioner of which will also double up as a hydrating shaving lotion.
NUDESTIX Cream Lip + Cheek Pencil
The Lip Color as Blush
Pencils that work on both the lips and cheeks (not just one or the other) are becoming much more attainable these days, such as the NUDESTIX Lip and Cheek Pencils. These are incredibly travel-friendly, housed in their own carry tin complete with a mirror and sharpener. You can also easily convert any non-matte lipstick into a matching blush, simply by swiping a little lipstick onto the back of your hand, warming it up with your finger, and dabbing and blending onto your cheek.
Becca Shimmering Skin Highlighter
The Highlighter and Primer
Make your makeup last longer and add a glow to your complexion by using a luminizing primer such as BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector, which can also be used as a subtle liquid highlighter along the tops of your cheekbones, on your brow bone or anywhere that needs a little brightening.
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
The All-Purpose Oil
A dry oil such as Josie Maran’s Argan Oil can perform a multitude of duties – in colder climes you can use it as an ultra hydrating moisturiser, you can smooth and de-frizz dry hair with it, mix it with your foundation to create a dewy look, apply it to cracked cuticles and dry hands…. the possibilities are endless.

I LOVE the Nudestix! I use a tinted moisturizer with SPF when I travel and use the nudestix as a concealer where needed and one for blush. So easy to carry everywhere.
I use a tiny cardboard and plastic eyeshadow compact I bought at the dollar store. It has 10 different colors of powder, it’s the size of four credit cards stacked, and there is a shade perfect for highlighter, and one for concealer, mixed among the eyeshadows. If I want to I could use the darker colors and a qtip to get some eyeliner variety as well, though I typically take an actual eyeliner stick along. Looking at it would make you think there wasn’t too much, but I’ve managed to use it everyday for a month long trip before and I still have plenty left- though I do apply colors lightly.
That sounds like a great strategy! Thank you for sharing it with us 🙂
It’s pretty easy to just get a travel size bottle and put your favorite shampoo in it. I use a couple of squeezable GoToob bottles that I picked up at REI.
Great option!
