Heading to Ireland in April. Thank you for this information!
What is the mid-calf black boot on the bottom left in the picture at the top?
Hi Kim, sorry for not getting back to you sooner but had to double check with another member of the team. They’re Ugg boots but sadly this style is no longer available. If you’re looking for black waterproof ankle boots, we do more suggestions here: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-black-ankle-boots/
Sorry I could not have been of more help.
I’ve been ti Ireland several times and These are great suggestions.
Hi would you recommend blind stones for Ireland and Scotland ?
It really depends where you’re going in Ireland as to what shoes to take. If you’re going to the West, it’s very rocky. So if you hike, good ankle hiking boots are really necessary.
What about duck boots? I’m wondering if they have enough treads. Any experience or recommendations?
Hi Erica, thank you for reaching out. One of the reasons why duck boots may be the best waterproof boots for your trip is that they’re smaller and therefore more packable than tall boots, but it would depend on what activities you had planned and the weather forecast. If there’s heavy rain in the forecast, a rubber bootie would work well for extensive city exploration on foot. However, regular leather boots (or faux leather boots) will work much better than rain boots on most occasions. Have a look at this article for some suggestions: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-waterproof-boots/ I would also highly recommend that you join our TFG facebook group and post your question there about shoes for Ireland: https://www.facebook.com/groups/travelfashiongirls/ Its a fabulous community of helpful female travelers that have the best advice and recommendations to share. Hope this helps answer your question. Have an amazing trip! ?
Do you have any thoughts on Vessi sneakers? I’m considering these vs something like the Merrills for waterproof walkers in Ireland this summer. They look less heavy & chunky, since I’m not hiking at home, but I want to be sure about the waterproof aspect.
Hi Nan, I am afraid that I have no experiences to share of the Vessi sneakers, so to get you some feedback for your question, I have gone ahead and posted it on TFG’s facebook page. Our readers are the best at answering questions like yours so please keep your eyes out for their replies from Thursday: https://www.facebook.com/TravelFashionGirl/ Hope this helps. Have the most amazing trip to Ireland!
Hi Nan, here is the thread with our readers replies in response to your question: https://www.facebook.com/TravelFashionGirl/posts/2296330593723929 Hope this helps! 🙂
Your info is so valuable. I am traveling with 7 friends to Norway and Scotland in July. I sent them one of your blogs on what to pack and it was fantastic. The idea of layers is great. I also suggest you check the weather 10 days out before you leave it helps tweak some extra warm or cooler items. Also my friend who travels extensively suggests you pack a days worth of clothes in your carry on if you are checking your suitcase. If your bag gets delayed for any reason you have a something to change into.
Hi Amy, that is so lovely of you, thank you so much and we really appreciate you sharing TFG!!! Have an incredible trip! ??❤️
Hi Nan, I ordered Vessi and I liked their looks and lightweight waterproof style but couldn’t get them on my feet. Openings are very narrow.
Nan, I’m referencing your comment from 2019. Did you ever get Vessi shoes and how did you like them?
Thank you, Alex. You’re the best! I’ve learned a lot from your articles and FB group. Will report back how those boots work out!
Hi Eunice, thank you so much for your comment!! Great, enjoy them on your trip and have a fantastic time! 🙂
Alex, are these suitable all year round? Wouldn’t, say, the Kesey be too warm for winter?
Hi Eunice, the weather in Ireland can be unpredictable and the Kesey would be great for protecting you feet from the cold and wet weather. Have a look at this post for some alternative suggestions for shoes for Ireland: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/what-to-wear-in-ireland-packing-list-ideas-for-dublin/ Hope this helps! 🙂
Thank you, Alex. How about June? Are the Kesey boots suitable for June?
Whoops, sorry, I meant to ask about the Simmens, not Kesey boots.
Hi Eunice, I would check the weather forecast before you go to just double check what weather you will experience whilst there, but the Simmens will keep you feet nice and warm. I think it depends on how badly you feel the cold. Also they will protect you feet from the wet weather. Hope this helps! 🙂
Hi Eunice, Ireland can be cooler than expected in the Summer months and still experiences rainfall so I would recommended ankle boots as being a great shoe to pack, so as long as you find them comfortable then you should be fine with the Kesey boots. Have a look at this TFG article for some ideas: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/what-to-pack-for-ireland/. Hope this helps! 🙂
Thank you, Alex. Now considering Teva Delavina boots because I just spotted a price reduction online. I hope these boots work work out well for me. Oh yeah,I recall you wrote about these boots, but I can’t seem to find the article.
Hi Eunice, the Teva Delavina boots are mentioned in this article: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/womens-waterproof-boots-for-winter/ The Teva Delavina boots are popular amongst our readers. Let me know how you get on with them! 🙂
I am surprised you didn’t include waterproof hikers. I’ve been to Ireland 3 times and taken my low waterproof Oboz hikers. Feel like sneakers with support and very versatile.
would you suggest bringing rubber boots on a backpacking trip for 5 months or would that just be extra weight that is not needed. Thanks
No rubber boots, versatile leather (or faux leather) boots with waterproof spray should work well 🙂
