Dedicated: Extravagant Last Minute Holiday Ideas

Ideally, you should never have to organize a last minute holiday. Your planning should have been done beforehand in order to ensure that you’re not taking care of unfinished business right before you grab a cab to the airport.

On the other hand, sometimes the last minute holiday is exactly what you need. Sometimes, you just need to drop everything and get some relaxation time, ideally abroad somewhere on a sunny beach.

Florida

Florida holidays are popular for plenty of reasons. The Sunshine State boasts some of the most gorgeous beaches in the whole of the United States. Beyond Disneyworld and the beaches, it’s truly the local touches that make Florida worth visiting.

If you intend on beating the crowds and getting some time alone on the beaches, you might want to check Captiva Island out. It’s a little too rough to swim, but perfect if you want to just walk around and collect seashells.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a good party, head over to South Beach, which has none of the family-environment trappings of the other beaches, just nightclubs and artificial beaches. Visit Florida with Monarch and you’ll be basking in the tropical sun in a matter of hours.

Sri Lanka

It might be a little far away for a last-minute holiday destination, but you’ll be thankful you made it. You don’t even have to pack too much – Colombo has turned into a very modern city since the end of the civil war, and you can buy all your travel gear, including your clothes, once you get there – for less than half the price than at home.

Sri Lanka now has so many luxury boutique hotels that getting around while enjoying a healthy dose of luxury isn’t difficult at all. Make sure you check out The Royal Bar and Hotel in Kandy, a beautifully restored heritage building that harks back to the days of colonial Ceylon.

Antalya, Turkey

Most travelers tend to flock to the famed city of Istanbul for their holiday; however, if you want to avoid the surging crowds of the city, why not try some other less-visited locales. Antalya is a great option if you’re considering a last-minute holiday: it’s packed with hundreds of historic buildings, beautiful winding streets and plenty of other archaeological sites of note.

Karaalıoğlu Park is a tranquil place to hang visit if you need some down time, or you could also go watch the fishermen at Yacht Harbour. If you fancy some holiday retail therapy, there is an abundance of massive malls, like Terracity and the Deepo Outlet Centre. If shopping trips are not what you’re after, go to the other end of the scale and take a short, tranquil cruise on the Mediterranean.
