Hi ladies! I hope you and your family are doing well during this chaotic time. To help stop the spread of the Coronavirus, I am committed to self-isolating and plan to stay home for the foreseeable future.

I know this has been a confusing, frustrating, and challenging time for our community. Many of us have had to cancel our travel plans, have lost money on non-refundable bookings, or have had to take drastic measures to leave our destinations and rush back home.

We have dedicated threads in our free Facebook group to discuss how the Coronavirus is impacting various regions around the world. Please share updates about your location or ask questions here.

It’s hard to have perspective during a time of uncertainty. Things are changing rapidly and we are experiencing shock at the situation unraveling before us.

However, it’s important to remember that while some of us may lose trips or have our travels temporarily postponed, others may lose their jobs or even their loved ones.

Personally, I’ve made the decision to stay at home, self-isolate for at least 4 weeks, and not plan any travels for the next 3-6 months.

It’s not a question about being scared that something’s going to happen to me. It’s about how my choices impact others. If I want to travel (even locally), is it worth me potentially spreading an illness, which could potentially hurt others physically or economically? I’d rather inconvenience myself temporarily.

I’m choosing not to travel at this time, not so that I don’t risk my health, but so I don’t risk the health of others.

Unfortunately, this situation is causing major economic disruption, at a much larger scale than just impacting the travel industry. While Travel Fashion Girl has taken a massive hit over the past week, I can assure you, the blog will not be going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Not only do I have a commitment to my team, but I also have a commitment to the community. I will do my best to continue running things as normal, continuing to produce new content for you, and also provide a wanderlust haven within the Facebook group.

I’m incredibly grateful I had the opportunity to meet our fellow travel fashion girls in New York recently and I hope to bring the community closer together. In the coming weeks, I plan on hosting online meetups for you, offer free online travel workshops, and restart my Facebook Lives.

It might make sense to hold off on booking travel within the next six months. If you have a flexible schedule, plan for last minute trips as things settle or better yet, postpone vacations until later in the year.

While we should self-isolate to slow the spread of this illness and stop travel at home and abroad temporarily, what we shouldn’t stop doing is day dreaming and planning for future travel.

Reading about travel is the best way to spend our free time right now. Learn budget travel hacks, research new destinations, and think about ways you can maximize your vacation opportunities in the coming year.

If this situation has reminded me of anything, it’s that we should not wait to travel. We should not wait for someday. We should prioritize our dreams and prioritize ourselves because one day may never come.

As soon as the Coronavirus has settled, I plan on traveling long term again and visiting new destinations. I’m not holding off on visiting those beautiful places I want to go or the the places I want to re-visit.

The time to make your travel dreams a reality is NOW – well, not now, but as soon as we can travel safely again. Whether it’s later this year or in 2021, make it a point to make your dream destinations a reality.

I’m sending you much love and positive vibes. And as always, thank you for being a valued member of the TFG Community ❤️ We couldn’t do it without you!

Safe and stylish (future) travels!

alex 🙂
