The Best Travel Accessories to Spruce Up Your Travel Wardrobe!

Handbag

If there is one accessory that distinguishes a traveler from a backpacker and a local, it’s in the bag baby. A handbag is one of the most neglected items in a girl’s packing list but it’s also a practical item that can completely change the look of your outfit.

A handbag should be considered a travel essential. It is the one unique item that we use every single day in our regular lives but we forget to pack on a trip. How many girls walk around with a backpack in their home town instead of a purse?

My handbag adds a ton of personality to my travel outfits. It’s been used and abused so I’m currently in the market for a replacement. It only cost $20 at Forever 21 so it’s not the end of the world if it gets lost or stolen.

Many girls skip out on packing a purse concerned that it might get stolen but this can happen anywhere in the world – even at home (well, my home is in Los Angeles so anything can happen). Just use caution and wear it across your chest just like you would in any major city and avoid wearing your handbag next to the road.

Dressy Shoes

Heels are a big no-no on a long term voyage. They’re okay on holiday or vacation but you’ll feel out of place with them the majority of the time if you’re backpacking plus you really won’t have many places to wear them to. Instead, pack a nice pair of dressy sandals that provide both comfort and style.

You can have the most basic tee and shorts combination but the right shoes will turn your look from simple to elegant in two seconds. If you’re only packing two pairs of shoes including flip flops and trainers, then choose flip flops that have a bit of style! Check out the iPANEMA sandals for some great looks.

I just replaced my trusty leather sandals after two years of non-stop wear. I literally wore them to shreds but they always livened up even my most boring of travel outfits.

Prefer the closed toe look? As an alternative, pack a flexible pair of flats. Ballet flats hardly take up any room and weigh nothing! I own a pair of Steve Madden ballet flats like these here that are beyond comfortable, stylish, and built to last.

Jewelry

Carry one complete set of jewelry and that’s all you need to dress up your travel style. One pair of earrings, necklace, bracelet, and ring – wear them all at once for a super dressy look or choose one or two items when you want to be more low key.

For maximum style, choose accessories that mix and match to give you a bit of variety. I travel everywhere with three bangles I bought in Tanzania and feather earrings from Peru. To enhance those two accessories I add a ring from Brazil and a necklace from LA. Just like Lisa from We Said Go Travel, I also love to wear my travels!
