Eddie Bauer Girl on the Go Waterproof Trench Coat | Sizes XS-3X
Best Lightweight Waterproof Jacket Women Can Pack in a Carryon: Eddie Bauer
The Girl On The Go Trench is the top selling Eddie Bauer waterproof jacket and one of the highest recommended by TFG readers. It’s sleek, simple and streamlined with a slim silhouette that creates a flattering fit. Not only does it look good, it’s built to keep you dry.
The jacket’s equipped with Eddie Bauer’s unique windproof WEATHEREDGE technology ensuring seam-sealed waterproofing and breathability. The ripstop polyester shell fabric comes complete with their rainproof StormRepel DWR finish.
Depending on how cold the weather is in your destination, you can choose the lightweight style above for mild temperatures or opt for the insulated Girl on the Go Trench for ultra-warmth. In addition to the above features, this waterproof insulated jacket also has the brand’s trademarked ThermaFill synthetic insulation.
Size options: XS-XXL regular, petite, tall, and 1X-3X plus.
Shop Columbia Pardon My Trench Jacket: Amazon | Columbia (Sizes XS-3X)
Most Popular Water Resistant Jacket with Hood: Columbia
The Columbia Pardon My Trench gets top marks from our readers time and time again! It combines the functionality of a sturdy jacket with fashionable details and a clever name to match.
The adjustable tie waist offers a customizable and flattering fit making it look more appropriate when traveling to a city vs wearing a rain jacket that’s better suited for the trails.
The back venting system provides breathability while the detachable hood offers versatility. Water-resistant and lightweight, the jacket is not lined and does not offer insulation so it’s best for mild spring and autumn weather with light to moderate rain showers.
For the price and quality, the value for this Columbia waterproof jacket is hard to beat!
Size options: XS-XXL regular and 1X-3X plus
Eddie Bauer Charly Waterproof Rain Jacket | Sizes XS-3X
Most Stylish Waterproof Jacket for a City Break: Eddie Bauer
While I usually prefer Columbia because they make some of the warmest waterproof jackets, I bought the Eddie Bauer Charly for a city, not outdoor destination, and absolutely love it! Someone even stopped to compliment my jacket mid-exploration!
I particularly like the fabric because even though it features Eddie Bauer’s StormRepel Super DWR, it doesn’t look like a typical waterproof jacket you’d wear to go hiking. It looks like a cute normal jacket with ultra practical weather-friendly features, which creates the perfect balance of function and fashion.
The Charly isn’t quite as lightweight as the Girl on the Go Trench, but it’s a solid, waterproof windproof jacket that’s ideal for rainy autumn weather. If you prefer a longer length, try the Charly Parka.
Size options: XS-XL regular, petite, tall, and 1X-3X plus

Columbia Women’s Carson Pass Interchange Jacket | Sizes XS-3X
Most Warm Waterproof Jacket Womens Style for Winter in Europe: Columbia
For cold, wet, and snowy weather, the Columbia Carson Pass Interchange is absolutely everything! This waterproof coat kept me dry as I stood in line for two hours waiting to see the Catacombs in Paris while it poured non stop in the middle of winter. I couldn’t help but feel a little snug and a whole lot more relieved as I looked around at the other less-prepared travelers and was grateful for this amazing jacket.
Not only is it 100% waterproof but the insulating Omni-Heat material keeps you warm even in the coldest conditions. The attached hood has a removable faux fur lining and a fleece lined collar to keep the icy air at bay. The structured fabric and included belt creates a streamlined appearance while defining your waist.
This Columbia waterproof jacket womens style is so good, I refuse to buy a winter coat that doesn’t have the same Omni-Heat material. I even own the same coat in three colors! Read my full review of the Carson Pass II!

I just received my Eddie Bauer Girl on the Go Insulated Trench coat. I was a bit concerned about it fitting across the hips as I carry some extra weight there, but the hips were fine. It was too tight though across the chest & under the arms, where I’ve never had a problem. Unfortunately, because otherwise it was perfect.
So ladies just be aware, unless you have fairly skinny arms or if you have a larger chest, this may not be the coat for you.
I too love the functionality and aesthetics of the North Face Arctic Parka. To cut down on costs, I would try on sizes in-store and look for the best deals on authentic NF jacket from reputable sellers on Ebay. The versatility and it being waterproof has been so great for me.
Great advice, thanks for sharing Maria!
Do any of these styles cover your legs down to or past your knees?
Hi Kim, thank you for reaching out! The BGSD Down Puffer Coat featured is mid-thigh or knee-length (depending on your height). The Eddie Bauer Lodge Down Coat featured here is also longer in length: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-down-jacket/ I would highly recommend that you join TFG’s free facebook community and post your question there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/travelfashiongirls/ It is a fabulous group of helpful female travelers that have the best suggestions to share. Hope this helps! ?
Hi Alex,
I’ve tried a lot of jackets and coats over the years, but my “ best by far” and multi-use item is the Bean Gore-Tex jacket! Given the appropriate “underlayers”, this jacket has even gone to Antartica and kept me warm and dry.
Sometimes I use an “ omni-heat” shirt, but more often two layers ( one short sleeve or shell, and a mid layer smartwool shirt underneath. I add a Patagonia “puff” vest in dark blue….and am dry and warm anywhere. Plus you can peel down to the T-shirt alone if you are heading for warmer locations. All these items pack easily ( and small),
and get stored in the computer pocket of my Tortuga Air pack. Have you tried Goretex?
Connie
The Eddie Bauer Girl on the Go trench is also available in a non-insulated style and that model is less expensive. I’m using it for a spring trip all over Europe, including northern Scotland. It’s a great choice for petite women as the cuffs can be turned up to just the right length. I purchased the indigo color which will go with everything. The color choices for the GOTG trench are great, anyone will find a suitable color. With the non-insulated style size up to allow for layering a vest or jacket underneath.
Thank you for sharing your helpful review of the Eddie Bauer Girl on the Go trench with us Dianne!
I also have and LOVE the EB Girl on the Go. LOST my outer shell this weekend. Does anyone know if I order the trench only if the removable insulation will fit inside of it?
Hi Deborah, I am sorry to hear that you lost the outer shell 🙁
Deborah,
That’s really sad that you lost the shell!
If you can’t get it replaced, I’d recommend the LLBean Goretex Stowaway as a replacement. While they
have fewer color choices now, they always have black ( what I have). These are great and dependable coats with never a “ leak through”, and phenomenal wind and cold breaking ability. All seams are sealed, and flaps cover every zipper. Also has a large ( but adjustable) hood! Elastic and wrap bands at the wrist, and elastic cords at bottom. Very lightweight and completely stormproof! Fabulous for monsoon season anywhere…and packs up very small with no wrinkles! Best rain jacket I’ve ever owned, bar none. It’s also worked well at keeping me warm when departing in midwinter. I just add a nano-puff vest over two layers of smartwool, and this jacket on top. I never leave without it!
I’m an owner of the Eddie Bauer “Girl on the Go” jacket featured here. It’s making a 4th late summer/early fall trip to the UK this year and I highly recommend it. I’ve been caught in some real drenchers and stayed dry. The version that I have has a hood that detaches, and a button in/out quilted liner that is great to have when it turns chilly (otherwise it’s in a compression bag in my computer sleeve!). I’d also recommend taking a light weight fleece vest for a little added body warmth when adding the whole liner is a bit too much. We’re “carry-on” only travelers, and taking both doesn’t add any weight or bulk to our packs!
Hi Brenda, thank you so much for your feedback! 🙂
Amazing collection! I have The North Face jacket and I love to wear it while traveling. It keep me warm and give a stylish look. Thanks for the great info.
Thanks Amanda!
Gotta love The North Face. They might be pricey but definitely worth the investment.
Would help if you would put the name of the garment with the photo…
thanks for your feedback!
