Casual

I could live in a tank and maxi skirt. To me there is nothing more comfortable. It’s always my go to outfit on travel days. Also, tucking just the front of your shirt gives a little more interest than leaving it all hanging out. Another fun twist would be to tie the shirt into a knot at the side. It’s a casual detail that can add interest to a basic outfit.

Jacket

To add a little layering to your look, throw a light jacket onto your maxi skirt style. A denim outer layer will keep you warm but still casual. Want a little more polish? Blazers add a sophisticated touch to your outfit. Also, a leather jacket is a great contrast to a flowy skirt. It gives an edge to your look, and would be a nice addition for travel in big cities.

Here are a few more ideas for lightweight jackets for warm weather!

Warmth

Heading to a destination where the temperatures are less than favorable, but you are tired of wearing pants? A maxi can give you coverage from the cold plus a feminine silhouette. Now what to wear with a maxi skirt in cold weather? Pair your skirt with a chunky sweater for the perfect cozy look. An oversized knit scarf can have the same effect. The material in the skirt will balance the extra size in the scarf.

Peplum Top

I like fitted maxi skirts for travel because they take up less space in my luggage. They also look good with fuller tops. Peplum tops are stylish and they give a little wiggle room in the tummy, which is nice. Combine the two and you have yourself a great looking ensemble.

Crop Top

Have you been wanting to try the crop top trend but too afraid to bear all? Sometimes all you need it just a sliver of skin. High waisted skirts and crop tops are the perfect pair for summer. Cool and effortless, this look would be great for beach or tropical destinations.

Chambray

Chambray shirts are another versatile travel staple. They are soft, comfy, and match with any color. They also don’t stain easily and can be worn many times between washings. Tuck it into your maxi with a skinny belt or tie the shirt at the waist for a great travel outfit. A chambray button down can also double as an extra light outer layer when necessary.
