Cropped and ankle pants are the same, but Capris ARE NOT. The difference between the two is the length. Capris end at mid-calf, whereas crops end around the ankle — hence, the name.

Should I Wear Capris or Ankle Pants?

From a style perspective, capris (specifically those ending mid calf not the ones that stop right below the knee) tend to be unflattering because the hem ends at mid-calf, which is the widest part of the calf. This distortion makes the entire leg look wider than it is, resulting in a tendency to make an outfit look frumpy.
